FAQs
What Seattle Locations does D Street Drain Cleaning provide services?
D Street drain cleaning services the Greater Seattle Area, including King, Pierce, and Snohomish County locations. Additional travel fees may be assessed for travel distances exceeding 50 miles. Any applicable travel fees will be disclosed over the phone or through a quote, prior to dispatching.
Is there a fee for dispatching a Professional drain cleaner to my location?
There is a $49 service charge for dispatching a professional drain cleaner to your location. If you choose to proceed with any services, the fee is waived. This minimal fee helps cover travel and equipment expenses, should services not be performed. If a service professional is already in your area, the fee may not apply, at the discretion of D Street Drain Cleaning.
What payment methods are accepted?
D Street Drains can accept all major credit cards and cash(no change offered on site). Checks are not accepted, with the exception of pre-approved consistent commercial accounts(monthly grease trap cleaning, apartment complexes, real estate professionals, commercial buildings). Payment is due at time of service.
Why do I need my drains cleaned?
Drain lines are susceptible to many types of obstructions, including root penetration, acute blockage, buildup over time, and breakage. Regular inspection and cleaning can help prevent slow buildup and proactively identify issues, but sometimes things just break. A clear and cleaned drain line ensures adequate drainage and prevents water and sewage damage to your property.
What is the benefit of a camera inspection?
Camera inspections are required to identify problems within the drain line. Sewer inspections are recommended, and often required, for property transactions in the state of Washington. Providing a camera inspection to prospective buyers can accelerate the transaction process. Performing a camera inspection as a buyer can help assess whether to proceed with a purchase, and protects you from unknown damages or issues occurring after the sale. Camera inspections can reveal many issues, including blockage, breakage, failing/aged infrastructure, root inclusion, and more. Access to digital copies of inspections (video and photos) will be provided to every customer who purchases the camera inspection service.
What are possible reasons my drain lines are malfunctioning?
Drain lines are typically installed several feet underground, and cannot be visually inspected without special equipment. Over time, the materials that make up the pipes can degrade, roots can grow into the pipes causing cracks and blockage, or items can be flushed down the drain that do not flow through to the main sewer lines (due to shape, size, or material composition). In the case of active blockage, D Street Drain Cleaning first attempts to clear the pipe, so that water can begin to flow. After the blockage is cleared, we follow up with an immediate camera inspection(at no additional cost) to ensure no permanent damage has occurred, that would require further servicing.
Is there A service warranty?
Warranty is highly situational and dependent on services performed, existing damage, drain line material and quality. If drain lines are in good serviceable condition, and a drain jetting or blockage was performed with a verifiable camera inspection, D Street Drain Cleaning can reasonably offer a 90 day warranty at the time of service. No service warranties can be guaranteed prior to inspection and performance of service.
Is the service area cleaned after the work is performed?
If adequate disposal containers are provided (Yard and Garbage) D Street Drain Cleaners will remove debris created from clearing drain lines, and clean the area within reason. If there is significant water or sewage backup, we do not provide pumping services. If your property has sustained significant damage from drain issues, we can recommend reputable water damage restoration service companies.
Can the drain cleaning service cause damage to my drain lines, sewer, or septic system?
Professional drain cleaning equipment does not cause damage to drain lines that are within normal service life, that are structurally sound and properly installed. If there are issues or the drain lines are failing, drain cleaning equipment can potentially exacerbate existing problems. When possible, D Street Drain Cleaning first performs a camera inspection, to provide awareness of potential problem areas, and inform how we continue with the service. Camera inspections cannot be performed in an active blockage scenario, where significant water is present.
How frequently should I have my drains cleaned and inspected?
Drain jetting is a cleaning service that should be proactively performed every 2 to 5 years, depending on overall drain usage, environmental factors(Tree root systems, location), materials disposed of through drains(avoid grease!). Camera inspections should also be considered every 2 years. Proactive identification of potential problems can prevent minor repairs (~$1-2k) from becoming major repairs (~$10-25k), including full drain line replacement.
I bought a drain snake at my local hardware store, can I use it to solve my own problem?
While over the counter DIY solutions can be an attractive, and cost effective solution, improper use may cause increased, or new damage, to your fixtures and drain lines. Our professional drain cleaners use commercial equipment that is designed to resolve issues, without causing additional problems. Many customers call us after unsuccessfully attempting to clear their drain on their own.
I already attempted to clean my drain lines, without success - why is your drain cleaning service different?
The equipment used by D Street Drain Cleaning is regularly serviced and commercial grade. It is more powerful, with greater reach, and purpose specific attachments. Years of experience working on older homes, with a wide variety of drain implementations, enables our Professional drain cleaners to effectively resolve most problems encountered. Where there is uncertainty and no water blocking the pipe, we also have a camera at our disposal to provide visual inspection and crucial information towards resolving the problem.
